A different chance meeting

Practice. Why did practice have to be so early? Joining the Fire Ferrets was a great idea and Korra was having fun; but waking up early was just not something she was looking forward to every morning. Today, it finally caught up to her and she was running late. "Thanks Pema!" Taking a very quick breakfast from what Pema had half-coked, Korra was out the temple in a blur and waterbending her way across the bay to the city. Even with her practice clothing and helmet, she managed it easily enough. The ferry would have taken too long.

After she made her way through the streets on foot, she didn't have time to try and work out the public transportation schedules, Korra was finally able to see the large golden building off in the distance. A boost of energy came from that and she lighted up as she locked her eyes on her destination and ran full tilt into the street. As usual, she ignored the honking and other loud sounds of the city. They would only distract her from her goal

"Almost there!"

Asami shut the door behind Korra and circled to the driver's seat. The satomobile roared to life, and they were off down the lamp-lit streets of Republic City. She hardly minded Korra's choice in music. It was too soon to get picky over that.

"Should I take you to the ferry dock at the bay?"

"A- okay..." Asami said with a small laugh. She supposed swimming to Air Temple Island was a lot easier when you were the Avatar.

It was pretty impressive, actually.

She drove quickly, but not too fast. She certainly wasn't in any sort of rush for Korra to be gone. Tonight had been something of a rarity in her book, even if it hadn't been so wildly unexpected. A date! With the Avatar! And shortly after running her over, too...

"If you say so!"

Asami raised her eyebrows, glancing briefly to Korra.

"Why not? Bad service?" The idea of having a curfew was completely foreign to her. She didn't even think of it.

"Oh!" Suddenly, Asami felt badly. If Korra was getting in trouble because of her...

"I'm sorry, Korra, if I'd realized, I would've scheduled earlier." She didn't regret lingering as long as they had, though. What was a slap on the wrist when you'd had a good night out? She had the occasional... disagreement with her father, but it wasn't frequent.

"That's what I think too, if you ask me." And it was why she hadn't even considered the idea that it would be a problem. Korra was more than capable of defending taking care of herself. Asami supposed it wasn't her place to question.

"But still, I don't doubt that you can sneak in undetected." She shot Korra a grin as they approached the waterfront.

"Of course." Korra may not have been the most conventional date ever, but she certainly hadn't done anything wrong in Asami's book. She leaned over to the other girl to brush a kiss on her cheek. She couldn't just ignore what had happened earlier.

And really, she didn't want to.

"See you later, Korra," Asami said warmly in parting as the Avatar made her way out of the car. She didn't drive away, but pretended to be adjusting something on the dash as she watched Korra go.

She felt... good about this. The slightly nervous energy in her chest, that silly giddiness that came with a first date that had been, for all intents and purposes, perfect.
